Visit Our Paris Vacation Apartment

Our Paris holiday flat is located in a distinguised building in the heart of the Quartier Batignolles in the 17th Arrondissement.

Our vacation rental apartment is on the 2nd floor (3rd floor American) of a 1893 Art Nouveau building. The second floor is oftened called "l'étage nobile"—the noble floor—because it is where the wealthiest residents lived. Apartments on this floor have the highest ceilings, the largest rooms and, of course, balconies. Our building was designed by Charles Plumet, one of France's most distinguished architects. Plumet is best known as the chief architect for the 1925 Exposition des Art Decoratifs, which gave us the term "Art Deco." Our building has arched windows, balconies with iron railings, combinations of colored brick with stone, and mosaic tile floors—all signatures of Plumet's early style.

The building's original heavy oak entry doors are punctuated with extraordinary original Arts & Crafts style stained glass panels.

Our building retains the original antique stained glass windows at the entry door and along the winding staircase.

Bright light floods the spacious living area, casting a warm glow on the original point d'Hongrie parquet floors. A comfortable sofa anchors the seating area and is complemented by a pair of sleek club chairs upholstered in buttery chocolate brown leather. The sofa easily opens into a double bed with a thick mattress dressed in luxury 400 thread-count linens. The entertainment center features color cable TV and a CD/cassette/AM-FM stereo. The entire apartment is eclectically furnished with pieces from the 19th and 20th centuries, and the walls are hung with a growing collection of 19th century prints and early 20th century original paintings depicting Paris landmarks.
The classic marble-topped iron bistro table on the balcony is ideal for breakfast, a romantic dinner for two, or for serving cocktails. The balcony of our Paris holiday flat is perfect for breakfast, cocktails or a romantic dinner for two under the stars.
Two arched French windows doors open onto the large balcony. Heavy custom draperies are both beautiful and functional, opening wide to let the sunshine in and closing tightly to completely block out unwanted light at night. With windows facing in all four directions, the apartment is always bathed in light, and strong cross-breezes make for comfortable living, even in the warmer summer months.

A mahogany dining table with seating for four anchors the far end of the living area. During the day, the comfortable seating, ample work surfaces and bright natural light make it an ideal work/study center. A nearby high-speed internet connection allows unlimited access for business travelers who need to keep in touch. Plenty of uncluttered floor space even makes it possible to invite friends for an evening aperitif before heading to one of the neighborhood's many excellent restaurants. A leather-upholstered screen can be positioned to provide some privacy for this end of the room when it is being used as a work area, or can be moved to the living area's entrance to offer complete privacy from the hallway.

The floorplan perfectly accommodates two couples traveling together. A large entry hall separates the bedroom from the living room. The apartment entrance, kitchen and bathroom all open from the entry hall, so those sleeping in either the bedroom or living area can have can make use of all the amenities without disturbing those in the other room.
The kitchen makes use of every available space by enclosing appliances inside the cabinetry. There are even hidden storage drawers in the toe kick below the cabinets. The kitchen window in our Paris vacation apartment allows just a peek at the top of the Eiffel Tower.
The kitchen in our Paris holiday flat is newly remodeled with modern appliances and cabinetry.
The completely renovated separate kitchen features modern, efficient stainless steel appliances, and is furnished with everything needed to prepare a quick snack or a gourmet dinner. We've even provided a copy of one of our favorite English-language French cookbooks, Parisian Home Cooking. With the abundance of wonderful fresh meats, fish, produce and cheeses available at le Marché Biologique, le Marché des Batignolles, or along the rue de Lévis, you'll surely want to stay home occasionally to get creative in the kitchen. While in the kitchen you might want to look through the window where you'll be able to see the tip of the Eiffel Tower just visible over the rooftops and chimneys of Paris.
The kitchen, bedroom and hallway windows open onto private courtyards. The kitchen courtyard is centered by a cherry tree of such enormous size that only the birds can possibly reach the tempting red fruit. The bedroom overlooks a quiet courtyard, as well. Sleeping with the open windows and awakening to a gentle breeze and the sound of birdsong is a particularly nice way to start the day and rouse you from the queen-size Louis XVI bed dressed in elegant 400 thread-count linens. The bedroom has abundant storage from the marble-topped Louis XV marquetry commode to the three sets of double closets—a true Parisian rarity!
The bedroom of our Paris vacation apartment is furnished with antique furnishings and fine, luxurious linens.

The newly renovated bathroom offers every convenience, including features specifically designed to appeal to American travelers and that are rather uncommon by Parisian standardsa glass door completely enclosing the shower/tub, a hands-free wall-mounted shower head, a generous ledge for those who prefer to shower while seated, washcloths, and an electrical outlet near the mirror. Two privacy windows open onto a courtyard and allow in bright, natural light. Luxurious embroidered velour towels are provided.

Our Paris vacation apartment has seven windows facing in all directions.Geraniums are a favorite flower for window boxes in traditional Paris apartments such as ours. The front windows of our Paris holiday flat look out over a quiet street in the Quartier Batignolles.
